About this indicator
This indicator measures the share of youth aged 15 to 24 who are not in education, employment or training, also known as the NEET rate. It is calculated as the number of young people aged 15 to 24 who are not in education, employment or training, expressed as a percentage of the total population in that age group.
NEET rate provides a broad measure of young people who may be disconnected from both the education system and the labour market. It goes beyond youth unemployment because it also includes young people outside the labour force who are not studying or training. A high NEET rate can point to difficulties in school-to-work transitions, limited access to training, weak labour-market opportunities or broader social barriers facing young people.
